Questions

Everything families ask.

Does my child need any background in music?
No. The Sa level assumes nothing at all — the first classes are about sitting, breathing and finding a steady pitch. Most students who start at Sa have never sung formally before.
How does an online class actually work?
Your student joins a Zoom class from the portal or the phone app with one tap. Mallika teaches live, one to one or in a small group. The class is recorded and appears in the library afterwards, so the same phrase can be replayed all week.
What if we are in a different time zone?
Every schedule in the portal is shown in your own time zone. Mallika teaches across US, UK and India hours, and slots are agreed once at enrolment.
Which age can a student start?
From six for Carnatic and seven for Western vocal. Younger children are welcome in the Sa level if they can sit for twenty-five minutes.
What happens if we miss a class?
Weekly plans carry two make-up credits a term and twice-weekly plans carry four. Cancel more than twelve hours ahead in the portal and the credit is issued automatically.
Can we pay in rupees?
Yes. Families in India are billed in rupees and can pay by UPI, card or netbanking. Families elsewhere are billed in dollars by card or bank transfer. Receipts are issued immediately either way.
Do you prepare students for exams and arangetram?
Yes — graded examinations through Trinity and RCM, competitions, and full arangetram preparation for advanced Carnatic students.
Is there a contract?
No. Fees are monthly and you can stop at the end of any month. We ask for two weeks’ notice so the slot can be offered to someone on the waiting list.

Still unsure?
