Carnatic · Western · Film
Vedic Chords is Mallika’s music school. One teacher, a real curriculum, and the patience of the guru–shishya tradition — online and onsite.
What we teach
Carnatic training builds the ear and the discipline. Western training builds the reading and the technique. Film and light music is where most students first fall in love with singing. Mallika teaches all three, and they reinforce each other.
The complete guru-shishya path — from the first sarali varisai in Mayamalavagowla to concert-ready manodharma. Taught in the traditional oral method, with notation and recordings for practice between classes.
Sung in Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannada and Tamil.
Breath, resonance and registration built on healthy technique, with solfège, ear training and a repertoire that stretches from art song to contemporary pop and musical theatre.
Sung in English, Italian, German, French and Latin.
The ladder
Progress is not vague at Vedic Chords. Every student sits at a named level, knows exactly what the next level requires, and earns a certificate when they pass its assessment. The names are the notes themselves.
A student may sit at different levels in different disciplines — Ga in Carnatic and Ri in film music is perfectly normal.

The teacher
Trained in both Carnatic and Western vocal traditions from the age of six, Mallika brings a distinctive cross-genre perspective to vocal training. Over the years, she has performed across the Americas, Europe, and India, with experience spanning Western classical, Carnatic, Film, and contemporary Pop music.
Mallika believes that strong vocal fundamentals, combined with exposure to different musical traditions, can help young singers become more versatile, expressive, and confident performers. Her approach encourages students to understand and appreciate the unique techniques of each genre while developing the vocal foundation that allows them to move comfortably across musical styles.
Having worked with students of different ages and musical backgrounds, Mallika adapts her teaching to each student’s interests, experience, and goals. Whether a student is beginning their musical journey, strengthening their technique, or exploring new genres, her goal is to make vocal training engaging, disciplined, and enjoyable.
Mallika offers vocal training in Carnatic, Western, Film, and Pop music, with an emphasis on building technique, musicality, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for singing.
